Growing up, we are not often taught how to deal with difficult emotions or upsetting life events. The message our world gives us is that if you are a good person and do the right thing, things will work out. The message is that you are in control of your life, and if something goes wrong it is somehow your fault; you brought it on yourself or you manifested it. So, when something goes wrong it can leave us feeling shocked, alone, scared, ashamed, or overwhelmed. The life we had hoped for is often gone, the pain can be unbearable, and life can lose meaning. When we reach out for support we are often told to calm down, not to worry, that things will all work out. We are left with no way to process the feelings in a healthy way and move on with our life and dreams.

Emotion Focused Therapy
I utilize Emotion Focused Therapy, a therapeutic approach that focuses on understanding and working with emotions to promote psychological well-being. It emphasizes exploring and processing emotions in the present moment, distinguishing between primary and secondary emotions, and fostering adaptive change through empathic attunement and therapeutic techniques. EFT seeks to enhance emotional awareness, improve emotional regulation, and foster positive relational patterns. It has been found effective in addressing a range of emotional and relational issues.
